Today I'm taking about journals, albums, and memory books as my latest constant obsessions.
I'm a lover of everything crafty, but my true passion lies with journaling. There is something very cathartic about freezing little moments in time and taking a minute to jot them down, blog them, scrapbook them, or paste them into a journal. Sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly nostalgic or even a little blue, I'll curl up in bed, flip through all my journals and scrapbooks, and remind myself how amazing the simple things in life are. Throughout my difficult pregnancy, the amazing journal "Tummy Talk" kept me excited and motivated for the light at the end of the tunnel. Can you believe I wrote an entry in that journal every week? Recorded every doctor's appointment, craving, sonogram, symptom, and emotion? Well, I did. This one-of-a-kind pregnancy book allows you to explore and record everything about your 9 month journey, as well as document your labor and post-delivery memories.
It's a real treasure.
Here's a peek inside my personal copy:

One of my favorite companies of all-time who make handmade journals, memory books, and albums is:
This company creates THE most amazing, whimsical, and beautiful products that preserve your most precious moments. When I saw their baby books displayed at the fabulous Austin baby boutique, Wee, I knew I had to scoop one up! Beware though...having to pick only one from a delightful assortment of gorgeous covers is tough! These albums have pages that let you record your baby's development, milestones, and places to save their keepsakes such as shower and birth announcements.
I went with this super cute automobile cover for my little boy, and here's a look inside:
But...I simply adore this (most popular) lion cover. I think I'll choose it for the next baby ;)

I love your journals. I use to journal and I've been lagging. M keeps asking when I'll finally get our scrapbooks done...haha.
ReplyDeleteI love these! What a GREAT way to keep everything together and have such a sweet keepsake!
ReplyDeleteThank You for stopping by my blog. I'm in love with your post. Some of the IT lists are things that I love to use and some I should. I'm now a follower and I also subscribed to your e-mail. What a great way to see all the posts.

I wish I was better about journaling. I guess blogging is my little way to do that.
ReplyDeleteLove those albums from Rag & Bone...I might have to invest in one for my boy!
Those are great ideas and very cute! It's sad people have moved from physical scrapbooking and journaling. I am not anti-digital, but there's something so special about doing thing the old fashioned way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and following me on Twitter. I am following you back!

LOVE those M.S. markers! I'm a totalscrapbooking nerd! This year I am also determined to use one of those Co. to turn my bloggy blog into a memory book.
ReplyDeleteI used to journal and scrapbook but with so many other things going on in my life - I have stopped. I'm so bad that my daughter's scrapbook does not even have her 1st year of life..just her birth day..and she's 12!!! Terrible..i know! I just don't have the passion I used to have before.
ReplyDeleteI do. I kept a journal of the first 5 years for each of my 2 oldest ones and am now doing the same for my third. I love it because I find you forget so many things otherwise! {you swear you won't but you do...}
ReplyDeleteLovely blog. Glad I stopped in to follow via the FNF hop. Happy Weekend!
I have a journal but I sure wish I kept up with it more. My son is turning one in a month and his baby journal is still empty, unfortunately. The journals you posted up are lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi! I’m visiting from the Finding New Friends Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteThat's so crafty! I wish I could be crafty, but my boys are at an age where any and all of my crafty thoughts are destroyed before they come to fruition. Its sad, really. I pat myself on the back for even keeping up on their baby books, lol.
Following you now. Feel free to stop by (and follow?) any of my web-based homes.

Hello i am Darren Butt
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your articles
I am looking forward to read more..
Those are great. So pretty. I wish I had the motivation to journal and scrapbook. I have taken a few classes so I do know the basics, but I just don't have the time. Maybe one day I will :) Thanks for linking up with Favorite Thing Friday.
ReplyDeleteI have precious little time to really get into journaling these days which makes me sad. I have started a digital project life and find it is pretty east for me to keep up with. However, I just blogged about Dolores pens and notebooks being my guilty pleasures. Love the ones you mention!
ReplyDeletelovely, it looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things Bloghop xo
ReplyDeleteHello!! Those albums are adorable! i've never seen any like them!!! Visiting from SITS, can't wait to check out your blog! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Anna, you're too sweet!
DeleteYour journals are so cute! I've tried to make memory books before but I can never finish them. They are hard to keep up on for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lauren! It's SUCH a time commitment! However, the feeling of actually completing it is worth it in the end for me :)
Deletethis is awesome! i have started making books for my kids but end up going digital most of the time. because the plethora of products is overwheming
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's very overwhelming...digital books are awesome too! As long as you have something to keep as a treasure for when they are older, it's great!
DeleteI absolutely love journaling and scrapbooking, although I barely take the time to do it anymore. I'm still addicted to shopping for new supplies all the time though.
ReplyDeleteIt's VERY addicting! Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteBeautiful journals. Scrapbooking isn't really my thing though I have journaled quite a bit as a mom in various forms. Happy SITS day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Laura!
DeleteThe post is amazing. Examples, material list, easy to follow. I definitely love scrapbooking but lately my time is spent gardening and writing. Love your site.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sheila! I'm glad I made it easy for you :)
DeleteLove your list of journaling supplies! Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by!
DeleteI love this....I have so many years to catch up on, my pictures and memories are in two big plastic containers! I keep saying I'm gonna work on them, no better time then now. Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have to carve out a block of time, and it is so easy to put off I know! It's worth it in the end though I think :)
DeleteGorgeous ideas. There's just something about a physical journal or scrapbook that makes it extra special. You've inspired me to do that again . Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteI love journaling and writing, but dang I'm terrible at keeping up on it! I LOVe yours. I'm working on a few new habits right now, and I'm thinking of adding journaling to the list of them! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! Let me know how it goes with the journaling!
DeleteI used to journal quite a bit when I was pregnant with my first child and for a little while after but eventually other things cropped up and I never got to it anymore. But then I'm one of those people who hate to be interrupted in the middle of a project and well.. babies are big interruptions. :) Love your passion for it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is so time consuming, which can easily be a deterrent with a toddler running around! I'm happy I stuck with it though because I forget all the crazy and cute moments too quickly!
DeleteGorgeous journals! I love journaling and scrapbooking, I do both and share them on my blog frequently. It's nice to see another SITS girl with similar passions!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! Wow, I will have to stop by your blog and poke around! So nice to have connected with you :)
DeleteI love the memory books you are displaying! I always write journals when I travel somewhere and then make a book full of mementos when I get home. I love it!
